Olivia poured herself some coffee, adding her cream and sugar, and sat back down at the dining room table to watch her husband make breakfast. She yawned, still not fully awake, especially after getting home way early in the morning from Idris. As tired as she was, Liv was excited as well, ready to meet the new teenagers living here.
Olivia and Godric had been away to learn about the new people staying at the Institute, and although details in files were nice, they couldn't actually replace meeting someone face-to-face and first impressions. Almost nervously, Olivia traced on of the runes on her wrist, the one for perfect balance.
"I guess it's silly for me to be nervous, huh?" She said, trying to make light of the fact that her nerves were indeed a mess. What would these new kids think of her? Would they hate her, think she was an awful replacement of a mother? Hopefully Jasper wouldn't, seeing as he'd already stayed here before, and she thought he had liked them then, but the others' opinions of her were definitely not decided yet.
With the smell of bacon filling the air, surely the new residents would be down any minute for breakfast. Olivia took another sip of her coffee, drumming her fingers against the table.

Godric Hailstar stood over the stove wearing a white button down shirt with the top three buttons undone showing some of his marks, his casual black pants and his black shoes, sliding the bacon he had made off of the pan and into a nice bowl. Unusually dressed for a cook, or even anyone awake at 9:00am, except maybe business men. However his reasons for being so dressed up were different than that of a mundane worker. Godric was dressed and ready to meet the kids staying in the Institute, his new family of sorts. As he walked to place the bacon down on the table with the rest of food he had made including eggs, sausage, toast and waffles, he watched as his wife traced one of the marks on her wrist. He smiled as he noticed it was for perfect balance, to him she didn't need it, she was as perfect as they came. Brought back from his thoughts when his wife said, "I guess it's silly for me to be nervous, hun?" Knowing his wife's mind was racing with questions he walked over and placed his hand over her fingers drumming on the table. As she looked up at him he kissed her on the forehead. Pulling away so he was looking at her directly in her beautful grey-green eyes, he spoke in a soothing tone, "Honey there's no need to worry. You're an amazing individual. Not to mention you're beautiful. The kids are going to love you. And besides you already know Jasper and there's only one other person here at the moment." He smiled at his wife and took the seat next to her pouring a cup of coffee, the realization of how tired he was finally started to set in. They had only gotten a few hours of sleep last night and then had to be up early to make breakfast. Now that all the work was done it was nice that he could just sit and talk with his wife while they waited for the kids.

Stepping out of his bathroom shirtless in dark blue jeans was Jasper. Drying his hair he looked over at the small clock on his wall reading 9:17am. He had gotten to bed not terribly late last night but he still felt tired. Probably from his and Oliver's drunk adventure to the weapons room. The shower had helped in waking him up at least. Jasper had planned on showering and then going back to sleep but a smell seeping into his room caught his attention. Bacon? He thought to himself wondering who was cooking. Certainly it wasn't Oliver, the other boy was most likely still asleep in his room after last night. At the thought Jasper wished he was still asleep but bacon was a smell he couldn't resist, especially being hungry like he was. Tossing the towel back onto the bathroom floor he walked over to his dresser and took out one of the three shirts he had with him. This one a plain long sleeved white shirt. Pulling the shirt over his head he opened another drawer and grabbed a pair of black socks. He slipped them on and then slipped on his black adidas. Welp better go wake up Oliver, Lord knows if I don't wake him up and there's bacon presen he may kill me Jasper thought to himself with a smile forming on his face. He couldn't help but be happy that he had a friend already after not having one in so long. Taking a look in the mirror to make sure he was presentable he noticed his white shirt had shrunk a little. It fit to his body tighter than it used to, showing his lean muscle underneath. However the more standout thing under his shirt was the visibilty of marks in this shirt. It was easy to see the marks that spiraled over his chest and down onto his stomach. The most noticeable ones he could see was the Rune of Quickness on the left side of his chest and the Rune of Strength on the right side. Feeling like a pre-madonna he left his pushed his hand through his hair and left the room.
As he walked out into the hall the smell of bacon was more prominent. That smells so good he thought as he headed down the hall toward Oliver's room. It wasn't long until he arrived at the boys door. Knocking loudly he said, "Oliver wakeup. Someone's made us breakfast!"

Oliver laid face down on his bed, his pillow held down snugly over his head. He had slept like a rock that night, the wine letting him pass out as soon as he hit the mattress. He had to admit, he had a pretty decent night. It was foreign to him to be so comfortable around someone he had just met and even stranger that he found himself already considering him as a friend. He often found enjoyment in drinking and getting into trouble though he had always done it alone.

He pulled his pillow down over his head even more tightly, trying to block out the light that creeped in from under the curtains as well as the smell of breakfast that obviously met the residents of the Institute had returned. When the pounding on his door and Jaspers voice echoed through the room, he slung an arm over the bed and fished around blindly for one of his shoes. Snatching it up, he flung it in the direction of the door. As it collided with the wood, it made a satisfying THUD as Oliver growled,
“Go Away.” Into his sheets.

"Go Away." Jasper heard. Not loudly but he heard it. Smirking he pulled out his lighter and started flicking it open and closed out of habit. "If you're not out in five minutes, I'm going to drag you out." Click-click, click-click. Jasper's lighter was the only sound in the hallway. If it wasn't for the smell of bacon Jasper would've thought it was erie, even for the Institute. Minutes went buy and Jasper didn't get a response. He would've gone in earlier to drag Oliver out of bed but to be honest he was far to tired.I'll give him five more minutes he thought to himself walking to the wall across from the boys room he relaxed against it.

The five minutes passed and Oliver hadn't emerged from his room. Sighing, Jasper headed towards the door. He'd only taken one step away from the wall when he heard a noise behind the door. He stopped where he was and stuck his left hand in the pocket of his jeans and continued flicking his lighter open and closed with his right hand. Finally he's up, now we can finally get breakfast. I'm starving!

Oliver let out a sigh of relief into his linens at the silence that followed Jaspers voice and he thought for a moment that the other boy had continued on to breakfast without him. Though the continuous click- click-click- click let him know the hall hadn’t been abandoned, he had spent enough time last night with the other boy to know exactly what the sound was coming from.

Realizing he wasn’t going to get out of it that easily, he let out an audible growl and slammed his fist down on his mattress, making his pillow bounce off from over his head and land with a dull thud on the floor beside the bed. Rolling onto his back, he let out a puff of breath that sent his mussed bangs fly up across his forehead. Rolling out of bed, he fished up his crumpled black jeans and shirt that lay in a ball on the floor where he had left them last night and pulled them on with a yawn before locating both of his shoes, one from in front of the door and the other that had mysteriously made its way under the bed. Crossing to the room to the bathroom, he quickly brushed his teeth and splashed some water on his face before running his wet hands through his tousled hair, barely giving his reflection a passing glance before exiting his room.

Shooting Jasper a look that said, “You will pay for this later”, he walked past him without a work towards the dining room where the smell of food was over whelming. Shouldering the door open gruffly, he paused in the door way at the sight of two kind faced adults who Oliver could only assume where the heads of house. His back immediately straightened, his posture becoming defensive as he turned to look for Jasper, to his surprise for support.

Olivia smiled at her husband, her face lighting up at his reassurance despite the tiredness in her eyes. Godric sat down next to her, and with the light from the sunrise streaming through the blinds, Liv took his hand and intertwined their fingers. Taking another sip of coffee, she let calmness overtake her body, something that really only her husband could giver her. If it wasn't for him, she'd be frantically rushing around the house, unbelievably nervous. With him here, she was bearably nervous.
Liv picked up a noise from upstairs, and raised her eyebrows towards Godric, smirking a little. She'd almost forgotten how teenage boys behaved sometimes. Only when she heard footsteps making their way down the stairs did Olivia put her coffee down and stand up, scooting her chair back under the table.
Only somewhat aware of her husband following her lead, Olivia tried to control her happiness as she walked over to Jasper and gave him a quick hug. "It's good to see you again," She beamed, turning to the boy next to him.
"Hi, I'm Olivia," She smiled, sticking out her hand for the new resident to shake. "You must be..?"

As Oliver emerged from his room Jasper said, "Ah it lives." In a joking tone. Smirking at the look he was thrown he proceeded to follow Oliver as the boy stalked past him without a word down the hall and eventually the stairs. When they got to the door Jasper watched Oliver throw his shoulder into the door to open it and walking through. Quickening his pace to keep up he almost crashed into Oliver who had stopped abrubtly inside the room. Stepping to the boys left Jasper followed his gaze to the two people in the room. He almost felt sick for a moment. It was Godric and Olivia. He hadn't given any thought that they might stil be running the Institute. They were some of his parents closest friends and he had just up and left them. He didn't know how they'd react to seeing him.
Almost as soon as they got into the room Olivia had started toward them. She reached Jasper first and reached out for a hug, relexively he returned the hug. A few memories that pained Jasper flashed as Olivia said, "It's good to see you again." He quickly brought a smile to his face, he was genuinely happy to see them, however it was a little weird seeing them again. As Olivia moved to introduce herself to Oliver, Jasper looked up to see Godric walking up to him. I must have grown since I've been here he thought to himself. He always remembered being shorter than Godric. Feeling himself be pulled into another hug, he quickly returned the hug. So lost in thought he almost missed Godric say, "It's good to see you agian boy. How was your trip to Spain?" Trip to Spain?...How'd he know... Jasper thought to himself before quickly realizing the Clave probably informed them of his whereabouts. Searching for words he replied saying, "It was so-so. A little to much for me. I did however keep buys keeping their downworlder problems in check." He didn't want to say vampires, knowing Godric wouldn't approve of him being so caught up in the things that killed his parents. Standing for a moment before realizing he was being rude he looked to Olivia and Godric and said, "Olivia, Godric. This is Oliver." Just as he said the last part of his sentence Godric had said, "You must be Oliver."

Godric smiled even more when he felt Olivia's body relax, not mentioning he himself relaxed more. Never one to be nervous usually but Godric couldn't help but be a little tense. Not about meeting the new kids, but more because they'd be seeing Jasper for the first time since his departure after his parents deaths. He'd hoped his trip to Spain would've done Jasper some good, he' been a wreck. Brought back to reality by his wife standing, Godic followed almost as if they moved as one.
The door opened a bit quickly followed by two boys who looked like they could be related. Being the perceptive man that he was Godric recognized Jasper immediately as the second boy to enter the room. He was taller than the boy standing to his left but not by much. They boy had long dark hair and were very slender. Both boys also looked very tired, as if they hadn't gone to bed much earlier than himself and his wife. Godric smiled at his wife being the motherly figure she was and automatically walking to the boys. He followed close behind her and watched as she hugged Jasper, "It's good to see you again." Godric heard her say to Jasper before turning to the other boy and introducing herself. He couldn't help but notice the little hesitation in Jasper in seeing them again but he was given a reassuring smile from the boy after hugging him himself, "It's good to see you again boy. How was your trip to Spain?" After hearing about how he wasn't to fond of Spain or it's downworlder population, in which Godric knew Jasper was referring to vampires, he turned to the other boy and stuck his hand out for a handshake, "I'm Godric Hailstar. You've already met my wife Olivia." he said smiling as he put his other hand on his wife's shoulder. He thought back to the list of kids staying here and realizing he was the only other boy on the list Godric said in an cheerful tone almost exactly as Jasper introduced the boy, "You must be Oliver."

Oliver stood silently, keeping his back to the door as if he hadn’t decided if he wanted to turn and flee or not. He watched as Jasper was pulled into warm embraces, the happiness of the Hailstars shining through the room as brightly as the streams of morning sunlight beaming in from the window. Oliver bit his lip, his back stiffening with discomfort as he took a step back towards the door, closing the distance between him and his escape. Sentimental moments made him uncomfortable, almost as surely as shadowhunters in power. ‘I knew it was a bad idea coming here’ he groaned to himself with a sigh. Though before he could hurry away, he heard himself being greeted and he froze.

His silvery gaze found its way to the friendly hands extended in front of him. He hesitated for a long moment, his gaze moving from the others hands to their friendly faces, his eyes narrowing slightly.
“Well, there goes my mysterious under tone… It’s no fun if you already know who I am.” He sucked in a breath and allowed himself to shake both extended hands firmly.

(Some of this is at the Furniture store, just to let you guys know)
As far as your everyday reconnaissance went, the wolf job, as she'd so endearingly dubbed the scout mission, was starting to seem almost too easy.
Directly after Genny’s critiques on the Oni Demon Exercise the night before, Mikki had made her way home, the adrenaline from the battle slowly ebbing from her system, leaving her with the calm that always came after a satisfying victory. After taking care of her mother, Mikki quickly went to sleep, knowing she'd need all the energy she could get for tomorrow. Before letting her go that night, Genny had passed on some info on a highly concentrated Lycanthrope pack that she wanted checked out to Mikki. The pack hadn't committed any obvious offences, but that was only on the surface. There was no telling what was really happening. As her motto went, The only good Downworlder is a dead one.
So, starting out early the next morning, Mikki had made her way down to the even shabbier part of New York City. To the people flooding past her on the littered streets, all that was visible was a lean girl in a grubby hoody and dark wash jeans, earbuds secure in her ears, blasting out the harsh notes of some screamo band. What they didn't see was the band of weapons securely fastened underneath the hoody, an arsenal of silver and steal, or the gleam of extreme focus in the girl's eyes.
Finding the spot that'd been marked on the map, Mikki disappeared from view altogether, slinking along the trash-can filled alley. With one small dagger drawn, she stopped before a moldy wooden door. Flicking a quick glance first right then left, the girl sent a forceful kick right at the middle of the wood, breaking the lock with a squeal of metal. Mikki darted in as quickly as a street cat, ascending the stairs of the abandoned warehouse, never letting her guard down. The next door she came too was unfortunately open, and did not require a bad ass, karate-chop kick, as she called them. The metal knob easily turned under her hand, and opened up onto the sunny roof top. A perfect spot to spy on the furniture store across the street, currently filled with hundreds of potential targets. And all before 8 o’clock.

Three hours into the job, Mikki's levels of pissed-offness were getting dangerously high. The brick wall that had been hiding her from view had slowly turned into a menace, sucking all the warmth her wind-chilled body had left. Her legs had long ago lost feeling, a result of the crouch she hadn't moved from once. And, to top it all off, she hadn't killed anything in way too long. She'd eyed a nasty looking rat that had stupidly come into her kill zone, but quickly thought better of it; she had to stay focused.
Resting her binoculars back on the ledge, Mikki was surprised to finally see some movement. The Sight identified the man as a werewolf, and the girl he was guiding as a Shadowhunter. Now, she hadn't seen many of the Nephilim, but from what Genny had told her, she knew something was definitely wrong. To capture a child of the Angel was hard enough, but this dog had obviously done it, injured her pretty good along the way too, judging by her limp. They were both heading to a beat up truck, parked along side the street. If she didn't act quickly she'd lose sight of them completely. Unstrapping the weapons band, Mikki stared down at all the shiny metal as a mother might stare down at a newborn.
" Eenie, meenie, minie, mo, catch a werewolf by his toe. If he hollers....don't let him go. Eenie, meenie, minie, mo," Mikki chanted the childish rhyme, her fingers stopping on a pair of silver knuckles. She didn't want to kill the dog; he might have valuable information on his pack's extracurricular activities. But he wasn't going with her without a fight.
"Perfect," she smiled, packing up her materials, eager to bring justice to such a creature who could injure a Shadowhunter as severely as he had. With one more quick glance at the two, she flew back down the stairs.

In hot pursuit of the pickup, Mikki heard the cool voice of her Sensai, a nickname she'd given to Genny, run through her head. Keep yourself hidden from your enemy until the last possible moment. Thank God New York City had so many allies, all connecting to one another, or she would have been shit out of luck from the very beginning. But luck was on her side, as she sprinted past trash cans, piles of garbage, and hoboes, glimpsing the rust color of the truck in the brief opening onto the street. Even while her legs were occupied by the chase, her mind continued working, registering exactly where they were heading. Why the hell is he taking her back to the Institute? Whether the wolf was planning an elaborate suicide or had some other plan up his sleeve, she'd be ready for him, her silver knuckles catching the random flashes of sunshine.
Three more alleys and she came to a sudden stop, knowing they'd reached their destination. Peaking around the corner, Mikki watched as the wolf helped the girl out of the car, thinking to herself what a considerate captive he was. Muscles tensing, she waited for the girl to move out of the danger zone, already feeling the electricity of the fight fueling her every fiber. One more step....and she stepped out from the alley.
“Hey dog, who let you off your leash?" With the taunt executed, Mikki flew like a speeding bullet, seeing the surprise in his eyes before she threw a punch straight at his face. The silver made the cuts bleed even more as the wolf fell against the truck.
“Go, now," Mikki yelled behind her, barely escaping a blow from the still active Lycanthrope. She had no idea if the girl had obeyed her order, all she knew was the excitement of the blows she dodged and delivered, the ache of sitting still all morning completely cured.

Blake pulled up to the Institute, parking carefully in front of the front doors. He had driven significantly slower than normal, a little below the speed limit in consideration of Vanessa, with her injuries and slightly pale face. Hurrying over to open her door and taking her hand, he gently helped the hurt Shadowhunter out of the car, turning from her to shut the car door behind her.
“Hey dog, who let you off your leash?" Once the insult had registered, Blake had just enough time to make sure Vanessa was out of the way before this flying bullet of a girl hit him full force. Slamming against his car, Blake growled at the new opponent, very aware of the fact that his precious vehicle was now severely dented.
The silver burned his face where she had punched him. He grimaced, feeling his wolfish instincts take over, and he was half way through phasing when he noticed that this girl was a simple mundane. No runes covered her body, no devil's mark, no fangs, nothing to distinguish her except a powerful punch. She shouldn't even be able to see him.
As much as he hated hitting a girl, the werewolf figured that this was a perfectly fine exception. His sharp claws raked down her body, ripping her hoodie and scratching her skin. "What the hell is your problem?" He spat, his voice considerably lower and throaty, grey eyes taking on an animal-like gleam.

Olivia smiled at the two boys, hoping like crazy that they both were comfortable here, and with her and Godric. Jasper, she knew, would warm right back up to them, but the other boy, Oliver, seemed wary. The motherly instinct and desire to help the helpless was driving her mad, desperate to make everyone she possible could happy.
Her husband took her hand again, as if he already knew what she was thinking, and Liv forced herself to take a calming breath. Trust took time, and as much as she wanted their acceptance now, it would have to wait.
"Is everyone else still in bed?" She joked lightly. In Indris they had learned of the other Shadowhunters staying here, and the two before them was less than half of the group. Derek, who had been staying here for a while, they already knew. However two new girls, Bridget and Vanessa, she recalled, still needed to be introduced.
Birds that had earlier been chirping became silent, and as Olivia glanced to the window over the sink she saw them nervously take off one bye one. Frowning, she walked to the window, peering through the blinds. "What the..." She mumbled, and then she saw a blonde girl tackle a brunette boy.

Jasper smirked at Oliver's comment, watching as he exhanged words and shook both Olivia and Godric's hands. There was a little bit of an awkwardness in the air after the hanshakes with everyone just standing there smiling. Breaking the silence was Olivia who asked in her usaual motherly tone but blatently joking, "Is everyone else still in bed?" Jasper scracted the top of his still damp hair and replied, "Actually I think it's just me and Oliver here at the moment. I got in last night and I didn't see anyone else." He looked at his friend as if to mentally ask if there were others here that he himself wasn't aware of. After catching Oliver's eye Jasper was brought back by, "What the.." It was Olivia looking out the window. Defensive instincts kicking in he felt his body tense. He was about to ask what was wrong when Godric cut in.

Godric chuckled at Oliver's comment while shaking his hand and replied, "Just becuase we know your name doesn't mean your mysteriousness is one. So no need to fret." He smiled as the joking tone of his voice came out as he spoke. After a few moments of silence was broken up by Olivia and Jasper, Godric watched as his wife went to the window. He was still smiling gently until he heard his wife say, "What the..." when she turned to him he saw a look on her face he knew all too well. The look of danger. Of children in trouble. He crossed the space between himself and his wife at the window quickly to survey the scene. He saw a dark haired girl on the ground, she looked as if she'd fallen and was wincing in pain. He also saw a boy who wasn't a normal boy but a werewolf, half phased with his claws at the ready. And then there was the blonde girl, not a Nephilim but a mundane. She was bleeding with scratch marks on the left side of her body, her hands clutched around the silver knuckles she had. Looking back to there werewolf he could see the cuts on his face. Always being good at reading situations, especially battle situations, he figured she'd been the antagonist but couldn't be sure. Looking quickly back to his wife he said, "We'll get the girl inside.." then turning to face the boys with a stern look on his face he finished, "Oliver, Jasper. Go get weapons and stop the fight. Oliver take the wolf. Jasper get the mundane under control." He watched as the boys turned at a fast pace and headed down the hall. Almost as soon as they were gone he looked back to his wife, "Hunny let's go." Stern but calm. That was the demeanor Godric was giving off. He sprinted down the stone steps with his wife close behind. Thrusting the Institute doors open he hurried down the front steps and opened the iron gate quickly getting onto the outer banks of the lawn leading up to the Institute. When he and his wife reached the dark haired girl they knelt beside her. Reflexively he asked in a fatherly tone, "Are you alright?" The sense of worry in his voice.

Jasper didn't stick around to ask further questions. He knew when Godric gave orders quickly something was happening, something dangerous. He turned and quickly left the room, pulling Oliver out of the room with him. It was odd how the two boys moved down the hall. They moved eerily in sync for two people who met a day ago. But neither boy seemed to notice, they just ran until they reached the weapons room. Opening the door Jasper walked in and grabbed two long, slender knives. He pulled out his stele and carved runes into the blades just incase. As he looked up he smirked at the weapon the other boy grabbed. Not taking a moment longer than they needed the sped from the room. Like two bolts of lightning striking at the same time they boys erupted from the Institute doors. Jasper quickly registered Olivia and Godric helping the injured girl and turned to his target. The mundane girl was cut pretty bad but she was holding her ground. Damn that chicks tough for such a good looking girl Jasper thought to himself. But he had to do what he had to do. Not letting her or the wolf get the chance to stop them Jasper dove and tackled the girl. He knew with how fast he was running he'd severely hurt the girl if he let her hit the ground, so before impacting with the ground he rolled so his back would hit the ground. He dropped one knife knowing it would do him harm if he landed with it the way he was carrying it. But it was to late to drop the other one. He felt the knife cut into his side as he the ground. He let out a gasp of pain but fought through it, standing up still clutching the girl against her will, even as she figited and complained in anger. If she knew I took a knife for her she wouldn't be bitching right now Jasper thought to himself as he looked up quickly making sure his friend was ok.

Olivers’ tension hung thick in the air as he made no effort to hide it. He crossed his arms over his chest so no one would make an attempt to touch him again and shrugged at Olivias’ question.
“There were two here yesterday, before Jasper got here. Bridget and Captain America…. I mean Derek. I believe they’re currently at Bridgets’ parents’ funeral.”
He frowned at the thought as he wondered silently how Bridget was doing. When the two elders stepped to the window, his spine straitened, sensing the danger immediately. As he and Jasper were ordered out of the room, an involuntary smile danced across his features as the instant adrenaline pumped through his veins. As he followed Jasper down the hall, the two boys moved in perfect unison as graceful as if they were dancing. Upon entering the weapons room, he was drawn to two silver sickles lying on a table. He followed Jaspers lead by drawing some quick runes onto the handles and shoved one in his belt, giving Jasper a quick nod before following him out of the Institute.

Without hesitation, he flew past the others, headed straight for the werewolf. Instead of charging at him, he ran up onto the hood of the truck, coming up behind the wolf and tackling him before he had a chance to turn around. Wrapping an arm around the boys’ neck, he held one of his sickles up to his throat, far enough away for the silver to tingle his skin but not close enough to burn.
“I’m not one for abusing animals but try to move and I will put you down.” He growled into the boys ear, his gaze spotting the blood on his friend.
“You alright?” He shouted over to Jasper.

The transformation the werewolves made from slightly hairy man to full on furred out Fido...well, to say it was a freaky sight would be an understatement. Mikki had never seen them stop mid-way, claws out, snout elongated, but still relatively human looking as this one had done; even the basic transformation never failed to give her the chills.
Unfortunately, the wolf chose that very moment to drag his razor sharp's down her side, the claws tearing into her flesh like it was nothing. Pain as white hot as the sun flowered across her side, causing a small gasp to escape her mouth. Without even looking at the wound, Mikki knew a band aid and the old "rub some dirt in it" saying just wasn't going to cut it this time. Most people would have immediately started putting pressure on it at the very least. But, Mikki wasn't most people; the fight still ran through her. And, right on cue, her second attacker came into the picture. A Shadowhunter this time. Coming way too fast.
Even as the ground was rushing towards her, Mikki wasn't thinking about how goddamn awful it was going to feel hitting that concrete. Well, maybe just a little bit. Most of her mind was focused on getting her arms out from under the steel grip of the Shadowhunter, needing to be ready for when he threw the next blow. The pain from hitting the cold slab was just going to have to be overlooked. However, it seemed she didn't even have to worry about that. In mid-tackle, the Shadowhunter twisted their bodies, making his the one that would receive the full impact. Odd move, but she wasn't complaining. It was his choice if he wanted a bruise the size of Texas or not. And, it seemed he did, as she felt the thud of their bodies hitting the ground. Immediately, Mikki went back to fighter mode. But, for all the squirming, twisting, and cursing, she just couldn't get free. Her attacker had even managed to stand up. Defeat wasn't a possibility though. Thank God she still had one last weapon in her arsenal.
"Remember, dick head, you asked for this," Mikki snarled out, pulling back her knee, that just so happened to be in the perfect spot. Flashing the Shadowhunter a satanic smile, she jabbed her knee straight into his crotch.
The plan worked. She just hadn't planned for the swiftness with which he released her. Stumbling backward, Mikki braced her back against the rusty pickup's door, realizing how much blood she'd probably lost, and, at the same time, not caring. The danger she faced from blood loss was nothing compared to the danger she might face if she let her guard down on a Shadowhunter. Make that Shadowhunters. There were now three more, two helping the collapsed girl, and another with a headlock on the wolf. None of them looked ready to just let her waltz on home.
'Is this what I get for helping you people?" Mikki hissed out her reply, thoroughly pissed with how her day was going so far.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One moment, Vanessa was reluctantly allowing Blake to help her out of his car, his warm, strong hand curled around her own, and the next, she was tipping forward onto the steps of the Institute, a good four feet away from where she had been only a second ago.
Having no idea what the hell was happening, she turned to ask exactly that of Blake, when she glimpsed why exactly she had been thrown to the side. Or pushed out of harm's way as she now understood. A crazed looking blonde fireball of a girl was in intense hand-to-hand combat with Blake. Even more surprising, the girl was just a plain mundane. A mundane with obvious knowledge of Downworlders and silver knuckles, but still a mundane.
She was just about to try to clamber her way up to the front door, hoping by then she'd have a better plan, when she heard the sound of the door opening. Thank God, Derek's home. However, not one boy, but two emerged from the Institute, both of them complete strangers to her. Taken aback again, Vanessa could only watch, as the two split up, one taking the girl, the other the wolf. So intent was she on the fighting, she didn't notice the presence of yet still two more strangers until they were right on top of her.
"Are you alright?" The man's voice sounded sincere, and his face matched his words. The women standing next to him looked like she couldn't hurt a fly even if she wanted to. But, Vanessa couldn't stop her distrust from retracting the hand the man was reaching for.
"Who are all of you? Where's Derek?" Her words sounded horribly pitiful to her ears. But, with last night's injuries still smarting, and today's surprises leaving her wondering if she should have stayed with the wolves, the way she sounded to these people mattered very little to her.
“I’m not one for abusing animals but try to move and I will put you down.” The most recent threat, a Shadowhunter boy, spat at Blake, only after tackling him, a silver sickle far too close to his throat for his taste. Blake growled, the animal instinct in him begging to fight and be free, hating the feeling of being trapped. However, his logical side knew much better, that if he did move he'd be dead in a few short minutes. Without the silver, Blake knew he'd stand a very good chance, being one of the best young fighters of his pack. However, here he didn't have a choice.
Phasing back to full human seemed like the best option, seeing as he couldn't fight. He srunk slightly, claws retracted, and eyes returned completely to normal.
"I don't see what the big problem is here," Blake grumbled under his breath, knowing that his captor's attention was on the other Shadowhunter boy, the one that had taken the girl that had originally tackled him. All Blake had done is bring back Vanessa. Surely there shouldn't be an issue with that.
Olivia gave the girl a reassuring smile. Injured, confused teenagers? She could deal with that. The loving mother in her took over, and despite the chaos of the fights around them, Olivia didn't let her focus wonder anywhere else.
"I'm Olivia, and this is my husband Godric. We're the Institute heads here, and-" Olivia was cut off by a voice, Oliver's, yelling at Jasper if he was alright. She only looked up for a second, enough to see blood, and then looked at her husband.
"Go help them," she said quietly, not giving him enough time to argue or offer help, even though he wouldn't have in the first place. They worked so well together, never questioning another's orders, jsut trusting completely that they knew what was best.
"Alright, let's get you inside." Helping the teenager up, Olivia walked her up to the Institute steps, and sensing reluctance at leaving the scene, said, "Don't worry, the boys will take care of it." Leading her into the infirmary, she sat the girl down on the closest bed. Sitting down next to her and grabbing her stele, Liv began to draw a healing rune, and then proceded with an energy rune. "It's Vanessa, right?" Judging by her appearance, she matched the description her and Godric had gotten for that name. "Why don't you tell me what happened?"
Jasper stood in the same spot he'd been in when he first stood up holding the girl he'd just tackled as he watched Oliver handle the wolf boy. He was slightly distracted as the amount of blood that was running from his cut increased. Did I cut it that bad? he thought to himself for a moment before being brought back by Oliver's question, "You alright?" Jasper's lips turned up at the corners a bit as he replied, "Yea I'm fi..." but he was cut off by, "Remember, dick head, you asked for this." It was a statement from the blonde girl before she rudely thrusted her knee into his groin. Jasper dropped to a knee from pain. The pain he was now feeling was bad. He thought it would be more do the the low blow but it was from his side. The force of him dropping to his knee had caused his cut to start bleeding more. He winced as he stood up and grabbed the girl again before she could make a break for it. "Now that wasn't nessicary. I'd like to have kids one day." Jasper said through gritted teeth. He was trying to make it seem like her knee to the groin was his main cause of pain. Looking back to Oliver who seemed to be grinning at the fact that Jasper had just been kneed in the groin, he said, "Yea I'm fine." As Jasper was about to walk over to where Oliver was with the wolf he stopped mid-stride as a stern voice spoke, "Jasper, Oliver that's enough." It was Godric. We didn't even do anything wrong. I took a knife for Rambo here. Jasper thought to himself as Godric took over the talking.
Not wasting any time after his wife headed into the Institute with Vanessa, Godric headed to where the boys were keeping their incapacitated foes. Not wanting it to seem like he was showing favoritism to his shadowhunters the first words Godric spoke were, "Jasper, Oliver that's enough." He watched as both boys looked up bewildered. I'll explain it to them later he thought before speaking again. This time he directed his speaking to the werewolf boy in a stern, yet understanding voice. Not wanting to seem like he was implimenting a threat. "Werewolf, you're on our territory. I don't want to start any problems between your pack and us here so I just want you to give me your name and explain your reason for being here." He motioned for Oliver to draw back the blade from the boy and step away to give him some room to breathe. Godric watched Oliver walk over to where Jasper was holding the blonde girl from the corner of is eye as he listened to the boy explain how Vanessa had been attacked by a demon and how he had taken her back to his pack, which Godric knew was very against wolf customs, then the boy before him told him how Vanessa had asked him to take her here and he was in the middle of helping her out of the car when, Godric watched as the wolf nodded over to the blonde girl, she attacked him.
Being a perceptive person Godric could tell the wolf wasn't lying. Even if he was a downworlder, people never usually lied about demon attacks, and judging by the genuine care in the boys voice and the fact that he took Vanessa to his packs home was enough for Godric. "Well Blake, I'd like to thank you for doing that for Vanessa. It was very kind of you. That is all I needed to hear, you are free to go." He watched as Blake got into the truck and started it up. Now he turned his attention to Oliver, Jasper and the blonde girl. "As for you. I'd like for you to come into the Institute. We'll treat your wounds and I would like to ask you some questions. Jasper if you and Oliver would escort her to the library, I'll get the first aid kit and meet you there." He was about to leave before he noticed the pool of blood on Jasper's shirt, "Oliver if you would also give Jasper an iratze before he looses too much blood." Making sure Oliver nodded he headed for the Institute to check on his wife and Vanessa before grabbing the medical kit.
While listening to the story Blake had told Godric about this girl attacking him Jasper couldn't help smirking a bit. This girl wasn't very big but she hit him like a truck. After Godric dismissed Blake and turned to them to give them directions Jasper was surprised he wanted to bring the girl inside, especially before even asking her name. But figuring there was some reason to it Jasper nodded. When Godric mentioned the iratze Jasper let go of the girl with one hand keeping the other one on her arm, trying to be as gentle as possible. With the other hand he lifted his bloody shirt to examine his gash. It had gone pretty deep but it was still just a flesh wound. He looked over at Oliver as the walked up the steps of the Institute and said, "Well Dr. Oliver. I did a number on myself. Do you think you'll be able to fix me?" As they got to the library he offered the girl the big seat near the fire place. After she sat down after shooting Jasper a very dark look, he turned to Oliver and smirked as he pulled his shirt off, revealing a thin but muscuar body with a bloody gash in the left hip. He watched as Oliver drew the iratze. As used to them as he was, they still hurt like hell. He winced a bit but it was over as soon as it started. Jasper had to admit, Oliver was skilled with a stele. "Thanks Oliver." he said to the other boy as the blood stopped, He looked down at the blood soaked shirt in his right hand and then back to Oliver and said, "Can you watch her really quick? I'm going to go get a shirt, Godric should be in here any minute." As Oliver nodded, Jasper turned and headed out of the room. As he walked down the hall he realized he still had a knife in his pocket. Oliver must have grabbed the one I dropped he thought shoving the knife back into his pocket. Throwing on the only other shirt he had being a tight fitting black t-shirt, he headed back to the library. When he walked in he saw standing against the wall of the fireplace, Oliver who had been joined by not only Godric, but also Olivia and the dark haired girl. Realizing he'd walked in on a conversation already started he smiled lightly as he reentered the room he walked into the middle of the room to join the group, standing opposite of Oliver. Looking around he saw Godric was in the chair to his right with Olivia sitting on the ottoman next to him, with the dark haired girl sitting casually on the couch next to the blonde girl. He looked across at Oliver trying to figure out what was going on...
Oliver loosened his grip on the wolf as he changed back into his human form, moving the blade farther away from his throat but not releasing him completely. As he watched his friend fall to his knee, he tried to stifle a laugh but the sound still carried out over the chaos. Were Jasper a mundane, a blow like that would have crippled him for long enough to put his life in danger though being a shadowhunter he was able to recover quickly. Though the sight was humorous because it wasn’t a blow they were used to. He longed to see the day a demon went for below the belt. The blonde girl was lucky she had chosen Jasper to assault like that though, easily recovered or not he wasn’t sure the little brat would have walked away from that had she done that to him. Still, he could read his friend easily enough already to see he was in pain, probably to do with the mass quantity of blood he was losing from his side. At Gordrics command, Oliver froze, shooting the man a questioning look as he was ordered to move away from his captive. He hesitated, not used to taking orders but obliged anyway, moving over to Jasper, swooping up his friends abandoned knife if the presses and wiping the blood from the blade onto his black jeans as he went. He shot the blonde a dangerous look as he took his place by Jaspers side as the wolf spoke. Holding back any “good puppy” jokes he could think of as Blake climbed into his truck, he nodded at Gordrics next orders and followed the others inside.
"Well Dr. Oliver. I did a number on myself. Do you think you'll be able to fix me?" Oliver smirked at Jaspers comment, eyeing his blood soaked shirt studiously.
“You underestimate my awesomeness, I can fix anything. I must say I’m impressed though, can’t say I’ve ever seen someone stab themselves in battle before.” He snickered softly as they entered the library and Jasper removed his shirt.
“Second base on the second date, not my best but not bad I suppose.” He smirked as he drew his stele from his pocket and sketched a delicate iratze on his friends side, above the wound. He nodded indifferently as Jasper left the room, letting his gaze linger over the blonde girl seated on the couch. Before he could make a sarcastic comment though, the door opened again and the others piled in. He took his respective place in the corner, leaning up against the wall with his arms crossed over his chest watching the scene with mild interest.
Once again, Mikki's delayed reaction left her with no means to escape. Damn, what was wrong with her today? The Shadowhunter that she guessed was Jasper had quickly recovered from her low blow and was now tightly holding on to both of her arms. She couldn't remember the last time someone had been allowed to touch her for this long.
"Now that wasn't necessary. I'd like to have kids one day." Through the snarky words, Mikki could tell that her kick had hurt, causing her a small bit of triumph.
"Your kid's wouldn't last one day in this world, if they fought as shitty as you do," Mikki spat back, her fury at being cornered seeped into the words.
Suddenly, the deep, authoritative voice of the older, male Shadowhunter drew her attention, at least for a short while. After commanding Jasper and the boy she suspected was Oliver to back down, the man turned his voice on the werewolf, her rightful prisoner. The werewolf told his side of the story, or, as she saw it, the story he wanted them to know. The typical werewolf didn't just up and rescue a Shadowhunter from a demon attack, take her back to his den to heal her, and then offer to take her back home. The whole thing sounded like a bunch of bull shit to her. But, what was her opinion worth now, being their prisoner. The man politely thanked the dog for his kindness and dismissed him. Every bone in Mikki's body protested with the waste of such a prime source of information just walking away. With her arms pinned, all she had left were her death glares. No one was spared.
"As for you. I'd like for you to come into the Institute. We'll treat your wounds and I would like to ask you some questions. Jasper if you and Oliver would escort her to the library, I'll get the first aid kit and meet you there."
Realizing that the head Shadowhunter was talking to her, Mikki turned her glare on him, only lessoning it because he just didn't seem like someone who really deserved her glares. She wasn't a complete bitch. Plus, he was offering to treat her wounds. On the flip side, he was also leaving her in the care of Thing 1 and Thing 2.
Reluctantly allowing herself to be picked up from beside the car, Mikki felt a sudden excitement at the prospect of seeing the inside of a Shadowhunter Institute. What she would wouldn't give to get into one of their weapon's rooms! But, as she was carried across the threshold by Thing 1 (Jasper), she was somewhat disappointed. Sure, the hall was freakishly enormous, but the interest died there. The room they were apparently going to be holding her in was a quaint little library; kind of made her sick with it's cuteness. Shrugging off the strangely gently hold of Jasper, Mikki gingerly made her way to a fireside seat, making sure not to stretch the torn skin and keeping her back to the two Shadowhunters.
A sound of fabric moving and the sizzle of hot metal on skin forced her head to look back. Jasper's shirt was off, and, somewhere back in her mind, Mikki admired his muscular physique. With a start, she shook the thoughts away, blaming the blood loss. The other Shadowhunter, Oliver, was creating an intricate pattern on Jasper's skin with the end of a metal cylinder looking thing, the sizzling sound telling her that the patterns were being burned in. What kind of people are these?
Mikki now noticed the gash in his side, wondering if she's inflicted that. The pattern must be a healing practice.
Having finished, Oliver's gaze flicked over to her own, while Jasper exited the room. She could see the challenge in the Shadowhunter's eyes, and she was just about to meet it when the head Shadowhunter, and the injured girl from the steps came walking in. As promised, Godric, as he introduced himself as, had brought the first aid, and, after getting a curt nod from her, proceeded to treat her torn side. The wound wasn't as bad as she had first thought; a few, tight layers of bandaging fixed it right up. But, now came the real hard part. Godric wanted to know who exactly she was.
There really wasn't any way out of it. They would obviously know if she was lying; she'd never been the best at that anyway. So, she went ahead, and told them about Genny, her warlock mentor, and how every day and night she'd go out, combing the streets for the very filthiest of Downworlders. She even recounted what she'd thought had been going on between the wolf and the girl, Vanessa. But, Mikki had very clearly left out the reason why she could see all these demons and Downworlders. It was a secret that only Genny knew, and now she was being forced to tell these people. Well, there was no helping it.
"Ok, ok, cool your jets. I'll tell you how I can see them. You might not believe me, but it's true. It's been passed down through my family. We call it the Sight. It allows me to see through the glamour that the Downworlders and demons put around them," Mikki snapped out, thoroughly pissed that she was having to explain herself to them.
"So, there, that's my story. Are you happy now?"
At that moment, Mikki heard the door open, allowing Jasper back in. Great, the gang's all here to stare at the freaky human.
``````````````````

After rejecting the man's offering of help, Vanessa watched as the woman next to him immediately took control of the situation. Her voice was so warm and reassuring, Vanessa couldn't refuse her when she gently led her up the steps; the woman was just so motherly, it reminded her of her own mother. Anyways, Olivia as she learned was going to help her, leading her immediately to the infirmary. Not even pestering her with questions, the woman set to work with more extensive healing runes than the ones she'd sloppily given herself back at Blake's place.
By the time Godric came in from outside Vanessa was feeling good enough to back up Blake's story, promising him the wolf hadn't laid a hand upon her. She had no idea why it was so important he knew that, it just was.
After everything was sorted out, Godric escorted her to the Library. Olivia had excused herself earlier, claiming she had to get lunch for everyone. Vanessa almost chuckled at that. Fighting sure does work up the appetite, I guess.
The atmosphere in the Library could almost be touched, there was so much electricity in the air. The Shadowhunter boy, Oliver, and the strange Mundie, Mikki, were practically staring holes in each other's head with the intensity of their glares. Taking a reluctant seat next to Mikki, Vanessa chose to zone out for the duration of the Mundie's questioning; she doubted anyone would notice with the conversational fire ball that was sitting next to her.

Before Jasper had entered the room, he caught the last of the conversation that was going on from outside. "Ok, ok, cool your jets. I'll tell you how I can see them. You might not believe me, but it's true. It's been passed down through my family. We call it the Sight. It allows me to see through the glamour that the Downworlders and demons put around them--So, there, that's my story. Are you happy now?" He could hear the annoyance in the girl's voice. She really is a spunky one isn't she. She should really be more polite to Godric though, it's not like he's forcing her to answer. He thought to himself as he entered the room. As soon as he did he saw the girl shoot him another angry look. Jasper couldn't help but smirk at Oliver when this happened. It was like she loathed him in a past life. He hadn't done anything to her, he took the hard impact when he tackled her, he got stabbed, he got kneed in the groin. All he did was stop her from mudering an innocent werewolf. As he took up a spot standing directly across from Oliver he spoke, just trying to be explanitory but he couldn't help but have a little edge to his voice, "We know what the Sight is. Shadowhunters have known about it since we were created. So we do believe you. However the attitude you're giving Godric isn't needed. All he did was ask you a question. He wasn't forcing you to answer." He saw the girl's glare get darker and Oliver lips quirk into a grin as he finished speaking. Jasper then looked over to Godric who was smiling slightly, Jasper couldn't help but think Godric appreciated the defense but he knew Godric would say something about how he went about it.

Godric sat patiently as the the girl, Mikki was her name, told her story. After she finished Godric sat quiet for a moment trying to develop a way to tell her they've known about the Sight in humans for a very long time when Jasper entered the room and answered for him. Godric couldn't help but smile as Jasper defended him. So much like his father Godric thought as he gazed upon Jasper for a moment before entering the converstion again, "Thank you Jasper." Godric said in his usual fatherlike voice, "However you could have done without the last part." He was still slightly smiling as Jasper tried to argue, "But it's true!" He heard Jasper protest and Godric raised a hand to stop him from continuing. Godric proceeded to ask Mikki what she was doing following the werewolf, "So Miss Downs if I may ask, what made you tail the werewolf in the first place?" Before he could get an answer Godric heard Jasper make a snide comment under his breath, just as it happned, a scene broke out that Godric wish hadn't.

"But it's true!" Jasper protested as Godric told him his defense wasn't needed. He tried to persue the argument but Godric raised his hand and Jasper went silent. He stood there staring at the girl who's name he'd discovered was Mikki. As Jasper shifted his standing position he noticed the girl sitting next to Mikki. He'd almost forgotten she was there, she was being very quiet and respectful. I like her Jasper thought to himself as Godric went on, "So Miss Downs if I may ask, what made you tail the werewolf in the first place?" Not being able to contain himself Jasper muttered, "You mean besides the want to murder an innocent downworlder?" As soon as the words came out the girl Mikki moved like lightning. She'd risen and Jasper felt her hand make contact with his face. He had to admit she did hit pretty hard for a human. "What the hell is your problem?!" Jasper said his voice rising a little. "Is that how you solve all your problems? By hitting people? That must be a real delight with other mundanes." He could feel anger rising in himself but he fought hard to repress it and keep himself composed in the current moment.

Sorry about the spellin. I did this on my phone.
-----------------
Oliver listened to the girl with an air of annoyance and ammusement he had no patience for mundanes, espesially ones that thought thems selfs important like this one. He shot Jasper a look that said 'i'd rather be drinking' when his friend walked back into the room and let out a puff of irritation.
"We know what the Sight is. Shadowhunters have known about it since we were created. So we do believe you. However the attitude you're giving Godric isn't needed. All he did was ask you a question. He wasn't forcing you to answer." Oliver chuckled at the look on the girls face and couldn't help but add in,
"Mundanes are all the same, some of them can see a fairy or two and think them selves so special. Can't say i've ever seen one decide to become a vigilante because of it though. Have to give you credit there, Xena." When Gordric spoke, he watched as Jasper fell silent like an obidient puppy and Oliver felt sorry for him for a short moment Though he had to admit the older man facinated him, he was'nt used to important men leading in such a kind mannor.

Oliver watched with mild interest as his friend let one last comment slip, causing the room to burst into chaos. 'This is more like it' he thought with a smirk, an audible laigh leaving his lips as Jasper got hit again. 'poor kid, its just not his day.' he thought, watching the scene before him with mild interest.

Mikki knew the minute Jasper walked in that he was seriously going to get under her skin. The smirk that he flashed her, turning to share a cocky chuckle with his wing man, sent her fingers curling back into fists screaming to connect with flesh, preferably that of Mr. Smirksalot. She's had just about enough of his crap.
"We know what the Sight is. Shadowhunters have known about it since we were created. So we do believe you. However the attitude you're giving Godric isn't needed. All he did was ask you a question. He wasn't forcing you to answer." Jasper immediately looked to Godric where approval for the defense was given. Ok, that was it. Shadowhunter's had appeared pretty bad ass when Genny had first told her about them. But, now, having actually met them, they were just a bunch of pompous jerk's who needed to be shown just what happens when they provoked the wrong girl.
Mikki was just about to enlighten Jasper on that subject, when Godric scolded him for his words towards her. A pretty pititful excuse for a scolding, but it was enough to qualm her anger, at least for the moment. Jasper's protest at this sedated her anger even further, bringing a mocking smile to her lips. Maybe Godric wasn't as bad as the rest of them.
"So Miss Downs if I may ask, what made you tail the werewolf in the first place?," Godric further inquired. His questions were starting to take a tole on her tolerance, and she contemplated not responding at all. But, she would never find out which path she would have chosen. Because, in the period of silence after the Head's words, Jasper muttered out a quick slight. And, then all hell broke loose.
Flying across the short distance between her and Jasper, Mikki brought back her arm, and whipped her hand across his face in a slap that she knew would make him think twice about mocking her.
"What the hell is your problem?!" Jasper said, his anger obvious in his tone. "Is that how you solve all your problems? By hitting people? That must be a real delight with other mundanes." She could see it now, his fury rising up to match her own. Good. Kicking his ass wasn't going to be half as fun if he wasn't really invested in it. And, by the way his whole body had tensed up from her blow, Mikki knew he wouldn't be holding back.
"It seems to be the best way to handle ass holes like you, who think they have the balls to walk all over me. And, judging by the way you fight, you're lacking even more so than those sorry bastards. So, go run to Mommy and Daddy and tell them a girl beat you up. I'll bet they'll be so proud," Mikki snarled out, unable to stop the stream of rage filled words flowing from her mouth. Even when she noticed the obvious darkening of Jasper's face. It only gave her something more to play on.
"Let me guess. They get eaten up by Vampires or something?"
(And so it begins Wink )

Jasper barely heard Oliver's comment to Mikki thanks to all the commotion that had started. After feeling Mikki hit him Jasper realized he'd gotten angrier than he'd wanted to be. Angrier than he'd been in months around people. As Mikki started into her rant Jasper had turned to walk away when the words really started to sink in. "It seems to be the best way to handle ass holes like you, who think they have the balls to walk all over me. And, judging by the way you fight, you're lacking even more so than those sorry bastards. So, go run to Mommy and Daddy and tell them a girl beat you up. I'll bet they'll be so proud," At that Jasper stopped dead about 10 feet away from her now. He felt his hands clench into fists, his veins started to protrude from under his skin. As angry as he was he knew he'd be able to walk away. That is until Mikki's next comment, "Let me guess. They get eaten up by Vampires or something?" That was all Jasper could take. He felt his hand on the knife in his pocket. In a motion so fast he thought even Nephilim vision would have a hard time keeping up with, Jasper spun around sending the knife through the air. He watched as it wizzed by Mikki's head, taking some of her hair with it before lodging itself into the stone of the fire place. "YOU DON'T KNOW A DAMN THING ABOUT ME OR MY PARENTS!" Jasper shouted. He could feel the anger that had welled up inside him rip itself through him. "They were great people and they did more for this world than any mundane has ever done in their miserable existances." Jasper had never been prejudice against mundanes but he couldn't stop himself. He felt himself about to say more so he turned around and headed for the door. Before reaching the door he still felt like the anger was trying to speak, and speak it did. Jasper picked up a wooden chair from one of the libraries rectangular tables and through it agains the stone wall, sending splinters of the chair flying everywhere. He turned to face Mikki one more time and said, "Don't ever speak to me again." With that Jasper threw the door open and slammed it shut behind him. He heard Godric call after him but it he wasn't turning back.

Godric was stunnned. He'd never seen Jasper act the way he was acting now. It was like the boy had become a different person in this instant. Godric watched as Jasper turned and hurled the knife, he watched Mikki tense as she felt the knife go by her head. Looking back to Jasper he saw the look on the boys face. It was anger turning the boys hurt into rage. Like the bad reactions of chemicals in a lab. Jasper's eyes had darkened as he spat his emotions at Mikki. No one in the room moved, everyone seemed to stunned. As Jasper left the room Godric stood "Jasper!" he called out to the boy in a fatherlike tone, not of anger, but understanding. He knew the boy was in pain and he also knew Mikki didn't realize what she did. That is until Godric heard Oliver scolding her. "Oliver can you please go check on Jasper." Godric wasn't in the mood for arguements. He wasn't sending Oliver away for scolding Mikki, but because he felt that Oliver was the only one Jasper would talk to. After giving Oliver a nod of understanding he turned to Mikki, "Miss Downs if you would please sit down. I need you tell me everything that's been going on the past few months."

Jasper stood in the elevator as it slowly rose. His hands were shaking from anger and he didn't want to be around people. With the ding signaling he'd arrived at his destination Jasper stepped out of the elevator and into the greenhouse that led out to the roof. Jasper stalked through the greenhouse and out onto the roof that overlooked the city. It was only around ten in the morning but Jasper could see the rain clouds rolling in. Reflexively Jasper had taken out his lighter and was constantly opening and closing it. I could use a cigarette right now he thought to himself. Almost on cue Jasper heard the elevator ding from inside the greenhouse...

Oliver had found the girls anger amusing, knowing Jasper could take the hit but when she opened her mouth, all amusement left him as surely as if he had been kicked in the gut. He pushed himself away from the wall, taking a step towards the scene but the look on his friends face made him freeze. The rest of the room seemed to stand still as the emotions raced across Jaspers face, first pain then pure, unmistakable rage. The rest of them could do nothing but watch in shocked silence until the other boy stormed out of the room as Gordric called after him.
Oliver stood frozen to the spot, his fists clenched at his side, shaking with anger. Had he not been so consumed by rage himself, he would have stopped to ask himself why the hell he cared so much for this kid, why something like this could infuriate him as surely as if the girl had spoken such words to him.
“You little bitch. His parents WERE killed by vampires. How dare you mock him. I only wish you knew the pain of losing someone you love.“ Before he said anything more, had sprung across the room at the girl. He wanted to slap her, kick her, anything to cause even a fraction of the pain that he had seen dance across his friends face. Before his fist could connect with skin, Gordric had shot forward with more speed then Oliver would have imagined and caught his arm, holding him back from the girl.
"Oliver can you please go check on Jasper." Gordric ordered, in a firm but kind voice. Oliver turned his anger on him, not daring to pull away from his grip for fear of what he would do.
“Why are you protecting her? She’s just a mundane and a stupid little girl at that! She’s a danger to all of us. Does the fact that she tried to kill an innocent werewolf in front of the institute mean nothing to you? Can you even imagine how his pack would have responded to that? I say we turn her over to The Claive, if she wants to act like the rest of us then she should be held accountable to the same rules. Maybe a few nights down in the Silent City would bring her to her senses and she can return home to play with some pretty dolls or whatever it is little mundane girls do.” He could have gagged at the words coming out of his mouth and how law-abiding he sounded but he figured if the little brat knew anything about their kind, the threat of the Claive and the Silent city would be enough to make her hold her tongue.

Gordric gave him a stern look and repeated his command, this time Oliver obliged. With a growl of anger, he jerked free of the mans grasp and turned towards the door, letting out a long string of curses as he went before slamming the door shut behind him so hard that the sound echoed through the stone rooms.
When he left the room, he let out an angry puff, running his hands through his dark hair before looking up and down the hall in search of his friend. He let himself think for a moment as to where the other boy would have gone but quickly came up with an answer that he hoped was right. Taking the elevator up, he shifted his weight back and forth, his anger at the girl still leaving him with the urge to hit something but when the doors opened, he quickly hurried up to the greenhouse. He hesitated for a moment when he saw Jasper, not sure exactly what to say but figured there was only one thing he could do. Pulling his pack of smokes from his back pocket, he silently thanked the angel that they hadn’t been crushed in the little altercation outside, he pulled out one for himself as he crossed the room to his friend and tossed him the pack without a word. As he dug his matches out of his pocket, he looked at the greenery growing around them.
“We’re probably going to kill the plants.” He chuckled thoughtfully as he struck the match and turned to let his gaze follow the other boys out over the city.
“I could kill her for ya’ if you want.” He said with a playful nudge at Jaspers arm.
“Gordric can’t be there to stop me all the time.” He added, with a small growl at the thought of the man stopping his blow.

Leaning back on one of the many chairs that littered the library, Mikki waited for the snide comeback that Jasper would surely throw back at her, a smirk appearing to match the many her opponent had given. Not one ounce of her held any remorse for what she'd just said. It had just been a random slight, the outcome of her rage and pent up aggression. She had no idea how very far past the line she'd gone.
In a movement so quick she couldn't have ever had a chance to avoid it, Jasper launched a small knife at his side in the exact direction of Mikki's head. She only had time to widen her eyes in sheer surprise before the blade found a home in a chink on the stone of the fireplace. It had passed within a breaths width of her face. Bringing up a shaking hand, Mikki felt the uneven section of her hair where the blade had sliced away a lock. She'd never been that close to death before.
"YOU DON'T KNOW A DAMN THING ABOUT ME OR MY PARENTS!" Jasper shouted, pain, white hot with its intensity, now paired with his rage, spilling over, unchecked. "They were great people and they did more for this world than any mundane has ever done in their miserable existances."
The insult against her race would normally have been the point Mikki focused on, but, as soon as she heard that one small word, nothing else mattered. Were. Not are. And then it all clicked. Oh, shit.
Wincing as the wooden chair smashed into an explosion of jagged bits, Mikki tried to meet his gaze, wanting to make her horrible blunder right. She wasn't necessarily a sensitive person; far from it, actually. But, the subject of dead parents was a subject that the human race as a whole knew not to touch. And, there she stood, not only having touched upon the subject, but having stomped over it, the marks she'd left stinging with the cruelty she'd implemented. How could she have been so stupid? The signs had been there in the darkening of his face at the first mention of his parents. But, her damn pride had barred her from seeing this.
"Don't ever speak to me again." These last words weren't shouted like the ones before, but they held the same amount if not more of the acidity and hatred he held for her. The pain wasn't as noticeable, but Mikki knew it was there, hidden behind the wall he'd thrown up, leaving only the rage. The door slammed behind him.
Now, Mikki didn't often feel the need to take back things that she'd said; it just wasn't in her nature. In her mind, anyone stupid enough to bring out her anger deserved the things said to them. But, this time was different. She would have given anything to steal back those horrible words. Jasper's exit had left her with no other option but to seek him out. It wouldn't be easy to get him to listen to her, but she was just going to have to make him. An apology was the least she could give him.
“You little bitch. His parents WERE killed by vampires. How dare you mock him. I only wish you knew the pain of losing someone you love," Oliver spat out, his fists clenched. She saw his motives even before he moved. But, the only actions she was prepared to take were defensive ones. In her opinion, a good punch would serve Thing 2 some good, but, for once in her life, she was tired of causing people pain.
The arm of Godric came out quicker than Mikki would have guessed, saving her from the fight with Oliver. Not happy at being restrained, Oliver turned to the Head, spitting out words almost as viciously as the ones he'd aimed at Mikki. It was obvious that most of the things said were insulting to her, but a few words left her questioning. Obviously meant as a threat, 'Clave' and 'Silent City' were words she'd never heard of before. And, by the way Oliver said them, she guessed that she didn't exactly want to find out personally. Godric repeated his command to go find Jasper, aided by a stern, fatherly look. Wrenching free of the man's grip, Oliver stalked out the door, a colorful array of curses following in his wake.
Trying to avoid any and all looks sent her way, Mikki switched her gaze to her jacket, anxiously fingering the frayed leather. Her window of opportunity had all but closed. Oliver was probably now with Jasper, and, from what she'd just witnessed, she doubted she'd be getting a chance to speak to Jasper with his friend around.
"Miss Downs if you would please sit down. I need you tell me everything that's been going on the past few months," Godric's authoritative voice offered her something else to focus on. At least for a time. So, after collapsing back into the chair she had so recently been lounging in, Mikki turned to the Shadowhunter and told him everything, all the leads she'd been given recently, anything that she guessed would be of any importance to the Nephilim. One specific story stood out to her, and she quickly conveyed it. A group of rouge vampires had recently been treating New York City as their own, personal blood bank, causing the humans to believe a serial killer was on the loose. She'd only recently learned of this herself. Her sources had been hesitant in handing over the info; apparently the vampire spearheading the killings was someone to be feared in the Downworlder community.
Mikki had no idea if the Shadowhunters knew about it, but she offered the news up anyway, her hostility from before at revealing information gone in the light of what had happened. It was the least she could do after acting like a stone cold bitch.

Godric sat calmly but attenatively as Mikki went over her story about the rouge vampires. As Mikki went on about how they were making it seem like a serial killer Godric had to admit that it was a well thought out plan. Almost too well thought out for normal vampire activity. "Hmm, that's not been the Manhattan's clan MO in the past few years..." Scratching the top of his tousled hair Godric went on, "They must've gotten some new leadership because none of the leaders we know are that stupid as to attack humans. At least not at an alarming rate." He couldn't help but feel as though something was definitely wrong. This was no random vampire on human violence. This was intentional.
Already having developed a game plan Godric started putting it to work. He turned to Vanessa who had been so utterly quiet, it was like she hadn't even been in the room. "Vanessa could you please go get Oliver and Jasper for me. If my insticts are correct they would've found their ways up to the roof. Tell them it's urgent." He didn't want to sound demanding but this was an emergency. It was Nephilim responsibility to protect humans.
Turning back to Mikki he spoke again, "Miss Downs, I'm going to have to request that you stay here. At least until this vampire situation is handled. I understand you've been taking care of downworlders for a while but if you're going to keep doing it, you're going to have to follow our rules." He watched as Mikki was about to speak out in protest but he kept going with what he was saying, "We will set you up with a room and you'll be allowed to use all the Institute has to offer."

When Jasper was joined by Oliver on the balcony he couldn't help but feel a little more relaxed. Taking a cigarette from the pack Oliver tossed him Jasper silently lit it as Oliver talked. "We’re probably going to kill the plants.” The boy said, but Jasper didn't reply he just took a drag from his cigarette and deliberately exhaled towards the greenhouse. He felt Oliver lightly punch his arm as he said, “I could kill her for ya’ if you want. Gordric can’t be there to stop me all the time.” Jasper smirked at that a little but still didn't feel much like laughing. After a few moments of silence aside from the cigarette burning Jasper spoke. "I was so close to killing a human." His tone was empty. Sure he was mad. But Shadowhunters were supposed to protect humans, and he had almost just killed one.
"I tell you what though. I could use a distraction. I need to get out for a little while. My inner predator is itching to go hunt." That's how Jasper portrayed what he did. Just like a lions hunting for food. Only he was the lion and his food was the scum of the downworlder community. He glanced over at Oliver to see what the other boy was thinking when he heard the elevators monotone ding.........................

Oliver tilted his head back as he exhaled a cloud of blue smoke, watching it twist and dance through the air, disappearing around the plants. He cast a side long look at his friend, concerned about his lack of a sarcastic comeback. He let out a soft puff of breath, wishing for the first time that he was better at this consolation thing.
"I was so close to killing a human." He heard his friend say, causing his lips to turn down in an annoyed frown.
“Shit, I’m just pissed I didn’t get the chance.” He stated, only half joking as he sucked in the smoke from the remainder of his cigarette and dropped it to the ground, snubbing it out with the toe of his boot.
"I tell you what though. I could use a distraction. I need to get out for a little while. My inner predator is itching to go hunt." This made Oliver stand up straight, his eyes blazing with a sudden intensity.
“Now you’re talking my language, to the weapons room!” He was about to grab the other boys arm to drag him downstairs when the ding from the elevator echoed through the greenhouse. He froze and glared in the direction of the door.
“Shit…”
