Dawn light shone through the window blinds of the store, and a patch of sunlight fell on Aubrey's face. Blinking her eyes open in response, she lay there for a moment, debating the merits of waking up now or going back to sleep, before finally throwing off her blanket and standing to stretch.
Everyone else in the pack was still sound asleep, sprawled across random pieces of comfy furniture. As strange as it was, this place was home to them. Aubrey folded up her blanket and lay it on the couch where she'd slept for the night. Blake was snoring from the armchair next to her, and so she quietly walked toward her dresser several feet away, one she shared with other pack members. Grabbing at the drawer she's claimed as hers, Aubrey snatched at a pair of Nike shorts and a tank top before heading off to the bathroom to change.
Emerging with her hair pulled back and pajamas in hand, she put the clothes away before grabbing her phone and headphones. The sun was starting to rise higher, so if Aubrey wanted to get her run in before everyone else woke up and took the showers, she'd need to leave soon.
Aubrey made her way to the front of the store, where there was a little entryway, a lobby type area, before a customer would have actually been presented with their furniture choices. It wasn't a separate room, but it was set apart from the rest of the store. Normally not giving this area a second look, Aubrey stopped when she saw someone sitting in a chair by the door, awake but resting.
"Hey," she said, alerting the guy of her presence. The werewolf looked up. Aubrey briefly remembered meeting him a few days ago when he'd joined the pack, but that was pretty much all she'd seen of him, and now she understood why. She ran her fingers through her hair. Aubrey had always been known as one of the most welcoming ones of the pack, bringing in new members, even when it wasn't the safest or standard thing to do, and now was no exception.
"I'm about to go for a run, wanna come?"

The sun had begun to raise, soft rays of early morning light dancing in through the windows to color the sleeping wolves with a yellow glow. Snores rang through the building like a sleepy symphony, some soft and others so loud it was a miracle the floor didn’t shake with every inhale. Jax sat upright, intentionally removed from the group, as close to the door as he could manage, as if he needed a quick escape route from his new pack. He had been here for a few days, the official induction had happened and a few handshakes and welcoming nods and that was about the extent of his interaction with the others. He had spent his last few days in the wolves favorite bar, knocking back beers and doing his best to avoid peoples gaze and shrugging off any questions he was asked. There were many times he told himself to get up and go strike up a conversation, force a smile at someone but had quietly just ordered another beer and tried to hide himself behind the pint, dismissing the idea for another day. He couldn’t even manage to sleep in such close proximity to so many other bodies, they presence making him uneasy any time he closed his eyes. He was damn near running on empty, his eye lids droopy and body exhausted but he still couldn’t force sleep to come. So he sat, lounged back in an overstuffed armchair, his feet kicked up on a dirty crate doing nothing but staring up at the ceiling, counting the cracks in the plaster in hopes of boring himself into unconsciousness. Almost into the 1000’s when a voice cut him from his counting, Jax peeled his gaze from the roof to make eye contact with one of the packs female wolves. He recognized her as the daughter of the pack leader, though her name escaped him.
"I'm about to go for a run, wanna come?" She had asked him, her tone friendly. He regarded her for a long moment, fighting the urge to turn down the offer with nothing but a shake of his head, but instead he forced a nod.
“Aye.” Moving to get up, his gaze fell down to his old jeans and worn leather boots, not exactly the best running gear but he shrugged it off, motioning for her to lead the way as he followed her out onto the street. Closing his eyes for a moment, he sucked in a deep breath, he hadn’t quite gotten used to the smoggy city air but the sunlight felt good on his face and he felt himself begin to recover slightly from his exhausted stupor.
“Where’re we headed then, Lass?”
